WOzFest HQ zone hardware

I use an Intel NUC6i5SYK as my main WOzFest HQ server, and it runs Ubuntu 24.04.

It is on 24/7/365, subject to power/Internet outages, restarts, crashes (rare), etc.

My AIR node is a QEMU-based Quadra 800 running System 7.1.1 and AIR 3.0.1.

The NUC is running netatalk 4 and CUPS for file and print sharing.

Network Services

CUPS provides the printers for sharing to AppleTalk via netatalk:

  • a real Brother (MFC-L3770CDW) colour multifunction printer called “Brother From Another Router” (PPD in WOzFest HQ Files)
  • a “Print to PDF” virtual printer queue (use the LaserWriter or LaserWriter 8 driver [latter preferred])

The netatalk server has two shares:

  • WOzFest HQ Files (R/O), which contains
    • a DropBox (R/W) folder
    • a PDFs folder, which has the output from the Print to PDF queue
  • Classic Mac Survival Kit (R/O) is a collection of old Mac software
